Patti Smith’s Horses
The artist sends me Horses
Horses then burst
Burst through the windows
Windows & “Land”
Land inside my ear
Ear almost catches
Catches in the crescent
Crescendo of hooves
Hooves half-buckled
Half-buckled with water
Water still listening
Glistening on a record
Record makes a person
Person not sound alone
Alone in the sunroom
Sunroom split with light
Light’s prism turning
Turning out horses
Horses out inverts
Inverts or the or
Or of my origin
Origin or overo
