Slippery

The day after I turned

5, Alice Notley wrote a great poem

about being born.

Today on the bus, which was

late, I sat in traffic,

reading, but distracted.

Thinking about supermarkets,

and photos of seagulls

flying in the bluest sky,

behind a Honda desperate to turn left.

Did you know I think

you’re so good at kissing,

where I saw & drank in so much.

I knew two ones.

The lovers must rest

& later visit

the most glorious waterfalls in

Washington state.
